Car theft: tracker jammed, vehicle stolen on Eid night

KARACHI: On the first night of Eidul Azha, car thieves stole a luxury vehicle worth millions of rupees from outside a residence in DHA Phase VIII, using a signal jammer to disable the vehicle’s tracker. The theft, which occurred around 3 am outside Tariq Hussain’s house on Khayaban-e-Ghalib, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media.

The thieves arrived in a car, parked behind the victim’s vehicle, jammed its tracker, and drove off without hindrance. Despite the increasing frequency of such incidents, the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) has been unable to curb the rising wave of vehicle thefts across the city.

The patrol team of Sahil Police Station, responsible for the area, failed to intervene during the theft. Tracker company records show that the vehicle’s location is still marked at its original spot, indicating that the jammer prevented tracking of its actual location.

Tariq Hussain filed a complaint at Sahil Police Station, and a case has been transferred to AVLC Clifton Division for investigation. However, there has been no progress in recovering the stolen vehicle.
