Federal govt earmarks Rs 14,343m for key health initiatives under PSDP in FY26

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has allocated Rs 14,343.500 million for health sector initiatives under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the fiscal year 2025-26.

The allocation focuses on enhancing healthcare infrastructure, improving disease surveillance, advancing preventive medicine, and expanding maternal care and emergency preparedness throughout the country.

Among the key allocations, Rs 4,000 million has been designated for the completion of the Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Centre in Islamabad. Additionally, Rs 1,000 million has been set aside for the Prime Minister’s national program aimed at eliminating Hepatitis C infections.

Further, Rs 2,000 million has been allocated for the development of an Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response System (IDSRS), while Rs 1,701 million will be directed towards establishing a cancer hospital in Islamabad.

The budget also includes Rs 900 million for procuring equipment to support the cancer hospital project, along with another Rs 900 million for the establishment of a stroke intervention unit and the expansion of critical care and cardiac facilities at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).

These initiatives are part of the government’s continued efforts to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.
