Severe heat-wave expected across Pakistan during Eid holidays: PMD

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning of extreme heat across the country during the Eid holidays.

According to the forecast, temperatures in northern regions are expected to remain 7°C above normal until June 12, while southern areas may experience temperatures 4 to 6°C higher than average.

The PMD has advised the public, especially children, the elderly, and women, to take extra
precautions. Citizens are urged to avoid direct sunlight and increase water intake to stay hydrated.

The department also warned that the rising temperatures may accelerate the melting of glaciers, potentially impacting downstream water flows.
