Police foil ransom kidnapping in Karachi, arrest four suspects

KARACHI: Police from Shahrah-e-Noor Jahan station arrested four alleged kidnappers late Wednesday night following a shootout near the KDA Chowrangi bridge. The operation resulted in the rescue of the abducted victim and recovery of weapons, a vehicle, mobile phones, and cash.

According to police, the suspects were involved in short-term kidnappings for ransom. Authorities said the incident began when officers in plain clothes attempted to intercept the suspects, who responded by opening fire and attempting to flee.

One suspect, 25-year-old Muhammad Ashar, was injured during the encounter and taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. The others arrested were identified as Kamran, Irfan, and Danial.

Two suspects were detained immediately after the exchange of fire, while the remaining two were caught after police surrounded the area. The police had acted on intelligence that Muhammad Shakeel had been kidnapped and the kidnappers were demanding ransom at Sakhi Hassan Chowrangi.

Shakeel was found unharmed during the operation. Police continue investigations into the case.
