Tom Cruise appeared uncomfortable when asked about his Father’s Day plans during a red carpet interview at the Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning premiere in New York City on Monday.
When the E! News reporter posed the question, “What would an ideal Father’s Day look like for you?” the 62-year-old paused, looked away, and eventually said, “Just having fun, man,” before quickly shifting the conversation to his film projects and adventures — without mentioning any of his three children.
Viewers on social media criticized the reporter for asking a “naughty question,” highlighting Cruise’s well-known estrangement from his daughter Suri, whom he shares with ex-wife Katie Holmes. Comments included, “Seeing the daughter he has abandoned for a decade perhaps???” and “Making movies? That’s definitely not a Dad activity. His loss.”

Cruise’s family history includes adopting daughter Isabella and son Connor with then-wife Nicole Kidman before their 2001 divorce. He married Holmes in 2006, and they had Suri the same year. The couple separated in 2012, and Cruise has had little public contact with their now 19-year-old daughter.

Suri was raised by Holmes in New York City, graduating from LaGuardia High School in June 2024. She then enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University and recently revealed her new name, Suri Noelle, embracing her mother’s middle name.
