Karachi continues to face a severe water crisis, with supply disruptions persisting despite Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah’s intervention. Although repair work on a key 84-inch pipeline was completed a week ago, water has yet to flow through it, exacerbating the ongoing shortage since April 29.
Several areas, including Korangi, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, and Defence, are severely affected, forcing residents to rely on private water tankers. Despite the CM’s directive on May 9 to restore normal distribution, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) has failed to provide a clear explanation for the delay. Internal conflicts within the KWSC, particularly regarding the leadership of Managing Director Zafar Palejo, are believed to be contributing to the inefficiency. Without swift administrative action, the city’s water crisis is expected to worsen.
