328 dead in traffic accidents, raising concerns over traffic management

Karachi’s traffic crisis continues to claim lives, with 328 fatalities reported in traffic accidents so far this year. According to Chippa Foundation statistics, the victims include 251 adult males, 34 females, 34 boys, and 9 girls, with over 4,600 others injured.

Heavy vehicle collisions account for a significant portion of the fatalities, with 103 deaths recorded in just 129 days. Among the dead, 19 were killed by dumpers, 41 by trawlers, 26 by water tankers, 10 by buses, and 7 by Mazda trucks. Despite claims from police officials that fatalities have decreased, these numbers highlight the ongoing issues in traffic management and the effectiveness of safety standards for commercial vehicles.
