Punjab schools to reopen as Pakistan-India tensions ease

LAHORE: Educational institutions across Punjab will reopen tomorrow (Monday) after being closed for two days due to heightened tensions between Pakistan and India. An official notification confirmed that academic activities will resume as per the normal schedule.

The closure of schools on Friday and Saturday was a precautionary measure in response to the escalating security situation. Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors spiked on May 7, when an Indian cross-border attack killed at least 31 civilians, including children. In retaliation, Pakistan shot down five Indian Air Force fighter jets and nearly 80 drones.

The situation began to de-escalate after President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, following intense diplomatic talks. The ceasefire was hailed as a step toward restoring peace and stability in the region.
