US consulate issues security alert to its citizens in Lahore after projectile incident

LAHORE: The United States Consulate General in Lahore has issued a security alert for its staff and American citizens in the city, urging them to immediately relocate to secure areas following reports of a projectile being shot down in the vicinity.

According to media reports, the advisory was released on Thursday amid fears that airstrikes could follow the drone incident, given the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

“There are reports of a drone being shot down in Lahore. Airstrikes may occur. All personnel are advised to move to a safe location immediately,” the security message warned.

The alert also instructed American citizens in potentially affected areas to evacuate if possible. “If departure is not safe, individuals should shelter in place until further notice,” it added.

While the origin of the drone remains unclear, the incident is part of a broader uptick in drone activity across several Pakistani cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, and Nankana Sahib, as hostilities along the Line of Control intensify.
