32 PTI workers indicted in May 9 riots case

KARACHI: A special anti-terrorism court has indicted 32 workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in connection with the May 9 riots, marking the third such case linked to the incident. Among those indicted are Haleem Adil Sheikh, Khurram Sher Zaman, and Raja Azhar, with the court calling witnesses after the accused denied the charges. The case, registered by Ferozabad police, accuses the individuals of damaging government and private property, raising anti-state slogans, and inciting public unrest.

In a separate case, the Sindh High Court granted bail to three individuals accused of defrauding a Chinese company of Rs113.9 million. The suspects, Javed Mehmood, Syed Zeeshan Bilgrami, and Muhammad Khalid, were released after submitting surety bonds of Rs300,000. The case stems from an alleged shipment of dirt, stones, and gravel instead of chrome ore to a Chinese company.

Meanwhile, the Sindh High Court has issued notices in a case involving the murder of a Rangers personnel, with the appeal of Obaid alias K2 against his life sentence being heard. The court is deliberating on whether the accused should be acquitted given prior acquittals in other cases.
