Govt schools in Punjab to have two holidays per week

LAHORE: Punjab Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has declared that government schools across the province will now enjoy two weekly holidays.

The Education Department is contemplating an extension of daily teaching hours from Monday to Friday, thereby making Saturday a dedicated day for comprehensive teacher training.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at bolstering the professional development of educators.

Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat highlighted the dual benefits of the new schedule, noting that it allows weekends to be used effectively for capacity building and lesson planning, crucial for teachers who manage multiple responsibilities.

Furthermore, he assured that the ministry is actively working to resolve issues related to teachers’ promotions, reaffirming the government’s dedication to enhancing educator support and overall educational standards.
