PTI spokesperson takes Solangi to task for criticising President's statement

-- Urges minister to provide level playing field to all parties instead of lecturing on constitution

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson took the caretaker Federal Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi to task for unduly criticising the President's statement pertaining to the level playing field, saying that the nation was well-aware of the shameful tactics of the caretaker government and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to deprive PTI of its constitutional and legal rights of contesting the elections freely.

In a statement, the PTI spokesperson strongly condemned the caretaker Information Minister’s absurd statement against the President Dr. Arif Alvi who was the only President of the country playing his due role within the constitutional purview.

He said that a person who held the ministerial position unconstitutional and illegally after the expiry of the prescribed constitutionally mandated period should be ashamed of teaching the Constitution to the elected President.

PTI spokesperson contended that the criminal facilitators in denying PTI permission for holding political gatherings and the enforced disappearances of party’s leaders and workers should not be made in violation of the constitution.

He recalled that the President of Pakistan announced the date of the general elections under his constitutional powers and stressed on ensuring the conduct of free, fair and transparent elections.

PTI spokesperson underlined that article 41 of the Constitution bestowed the power to the President as the head of the state to shield the constitutional rights of all the citizens of the country, adding that Arif Alvi was the only President in the history of Pakistan who has performed his duties in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution.

He reminded that earlier, the shameful tradition was established to appoint person, who feed Dahi Bhallas to Nawaz Sharif and carrying briefcases full of notes to buy judges on the important positions of the state.

PTI spokesperson noted that commenting on the constitutional role of the head of state by the caretaker minister, whose sole responsibility to conduct free and transparent elections in the country, did not suit him in any way.

He suggested that instead of lecturing the President on the constitution, the caretaker government should focus on providing equal opportunities to all political parties before the elections and stop facilitating the nefarious agenda of pre-election rigging.
