CPC’s governing philosophy helped eliminate poverty, bring prosperity: senators

ISLAMABAD: Senators from different political parties said that the people-centred governing philosophy of the Communist Party of China has helped eliminate absolute poverty and bring prosperity and development to China.

The senators made the remarks while addressing a webinar on the topic “People-Centered: Celebrating the 100 Years of Communist Party of China,” organised by the Pakistani think-tank Pakistan-China Institute in Islamabad.

During the webinar, Mushahid Hussain Syed, chairman of Defense Committee and a senator from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, said the CPC played an unprecedented leading role in human history by lifting over 770 million rural residents out of poverty in almost 40 years.

With strong, efficient leadership and good governance, the CPC has adopted many successful policies that keep people as the top priority, making China the world’s second-largest economy.

China is now sharing its experience with other countries including Pakistan as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has been bringing tangible benefits to Pakistan, he said.

Celebrations of CPC’s 100th founding anniversary, he said, are very meaningful not only for China but also for other countries because China’s success is now being shared.

Commending China’s success in combating poverty, Sania Nishtar, special assistant to the prime minister on poverty alleviation and a senator from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said that the CPC worked wonders since its establishment by prioritizing policies about people and fulfilling people’s expectations.

Nishtar said that the Chinese people trust the CPC as the party has been serving the people wholeheartedly and it “encourages fresh ideas and values, and has gone into the mechanism of reaching consensus on national issues.”

She said that political parties in Pakistan have much to learn from the CPC’s experience. “I genuinely feel that we can adapt them to our national conditions.”

Addressing the webinar, Chinese Ambassador Nong Rong said that the key factor behind CPC’s success in its own development and leading the Chinese people to make remarkable achievements is the party’s people-centred approach, including “relying on the people, for the people, and being rooted in the people,” to place people as the first priority for the party, the Chinese envoy noted.

The CPC not only seeks happiness for the Chinese people, but also strives for the cause of human progress, Nong said.

The party “attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with its Pakistan counterparts, and will give full play to the advantages of inter-party relations to reach the consensus among parties” and make party-to-party exchanges contribute to building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, he added.
