Saudi military high-ups acknowledge Pakistan’s role in regional peace

According to the spokesperson of Pakistan Navy, matters of mutual interest, including naval cooperation, came under discussion during the meetings. The Saudi officials also appreciated Pakistan Navy's role in the training of Saudi naval forces.

ISLAMABAD: Reiterating the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the Saudi military and naval authorities have acknowledged the contributions of Pakistan in spearheading various initiatives for maintaining peace and stability in the region.

These views were expressed when Chief of the Naval Staff (CONS) Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi, who is on an official visit to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), held separate meetings with the Saudi chief of general staff (COGS) and the Royal Saudi Naval Forces commander.

The naval chief also visited Saudi Naval Forces Headquarters in Riyadh. Admiral Niazi was received by Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) Commander Vice Admiral Fahad bin Abdullah Al Ghofaily.

A smartly turned out contingent of RSNF clad in ceremonial dress presented guard of honour. The admiral was given a comprehensive briefing on RSNF setup and ongoing operations. The naval chief also visited their Command and Control Centre.

Later, Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi called on Chief of General Staff General Fayyad bin Hamid Al Ruwaili and Royal Naval Forces Commander Vice Admiral Fahad bin Abdullah Al Ghofaily separately.

This visit is expected to greatly enhance the bilateral cooperation between both the countries in general and navies in particular, said the Navy spokesperson.
