KARACHI: A woman, who had been declared dead by doctors, woke up when her body was being bathed for burial rites, at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) here on Wednesday.
According to the family sources, 50-year-old Rasheeda was brought to the ASH a day ago for treatment where doctors declared her dead. The doctors had also issued her death certificate to the family.
The ‘dead body’ of the woman was moved to the mortuary for the final bath where she suddenly woke up. The mortuary attendants and some female relatives of the women panicked and fled from the room.
Rasheeda was later shifted to the ASH again for treatment.
Senior Director Medical & Health Service Department Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Dr Salma Kausar has ordered a probe into the incident.
