ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met the United States Ambassador to Pakistan Paul Jones and discussed the Afghan peace process on Thursday.
According to reports, Qureshi said that to ensure sustainable peace in the region it was imperative that the Afghan peace process continue.
He also lauded American efforts to restart the Afghan peace process.
Addressing the launching ceremony of Vision F.O. the foreign minister said that economic diplomacy is vital in attracting investments and enhancing trade.
He also called on envoys and diplomats on foreign missions to tap the immense potential of overseas Pakistanis in utilising their talents and experience for the best use of the country.
Pakistan and US had a diplomatic row last month after American envoy Alice Wells criticised the China Pakistan Economic Corridor saying that it would prove detrimental to Pakistan’s economic progress.
Qureshi said that CPEC was crucial to Pakistan’s development and would be expanded further. Adding that the project was a game-changer for not only the country but the entire region.
The foreign minister also invited American investment in the Economic Zones being established under CPEC.
