Previous govt neglected health and education sectors, says Aslam Iqbal

Punjab Information Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal on Wednesday said that there was no need of spending huge amounts of money on projects such as the orange line metro train when health care and education in the province were in dire straits.

The provincial minister further said that instead of spending Rs300 billion on the orange train project the previous government should instead have directed these funds towards building schools, filtration plants, and hospitals.

Speaking to the media at the inauguration of a water filtration plant in Gulberg area of Lahore, Iqbal said that the Sharif family had not built a single hospital during their time in power where they could get themselves treated.

“If any member of the Sharif family gets sick then their well-being should be sought after giving them a ride of the metro”, he added.

He said that the Sharif family had looted the country of trillions of rupees. “No one is an angel and those who did wrong, suffered from its consequences”, he said, adding that those who plundered the nation should be treated as thieves.
