KTH doctors fired for allowing guards to medically examine patients

PESHAWAR: Authorities on Monday fired two senior doctors at the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) after images of security guards who were allowed to perform medical check-ups went viral on social media.

The information came to light when a photo of the guard interacting with patients went viral on social media earlier this month. The security guard, who sitting on a doctor’s chair, was checking the blood pressure of patients.

An inquiry over the matter was conducted which issued warnings to a line manager and three nurses for negligence over the incident as well.

The two doctors, Dr Inayat and Dr Ilyas, were fired from their posts after a notification order was issued following the completion of the inquiry report.

Dr Inayat and Dr Ilyas have now been referred to the Department of Health.
