ECC to meet to consider budget proposals

The Economic Coordination Committee will meet on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and consider the budget proposals for the year 2018-19.

Representatives of all four provinces along with representatives of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) will be present at the meeting. The proposals for the development budget for the year 2018-19 would be approved by the committee. The proposed budget would then be sent to the National Economic Council (NEC).

According to media reports, 1013 billion have been proposed for the development of the provinces while 52 billion have been proposed for the development of Islamabad, GB, AJK and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). 2.065 billion have been proposed for the Information Technology (IT) sector, 19.058 billion for Interior, 5.035 billion for Housing and works, 14 billion for Finance Division, 14 billion for Defence Production, 33.098 billion for Communications Division, 2.077 billion for Aviation Division, 10 billion for Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC), 37 billion for Higher Education Commission (HEC), 2 billion for educational projects, 2.072 billion for healthcare projects, 305 billion for ministries and other divisions.
