NA standing committee to take up three delayed bills: report

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony will take up three different bills seeking the establishment of an independent national commission for the protection of minorities’ rights, reported a local English newspaper.

The bill moved by PPP MNA Belum Hasnain, Sanjay Perwani of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MNA Lal Chand Malhi, will be taken up by the committee headed by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)’s Shagufta Jumani.

The bills have been delayed for the past three years mainly due to the opposition by the government and lack of interest by the members.
