ECP merges applications against dissident MQM parliamentarians

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday merged all applications against dissident parliamentarians of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and adjourned the hearing till March 15.

A three-member bench, headed by ECP Chairman Muhammad Raza heard pleas against revolting members of MQM. During the hearing, S A Iqbal Qadri appeared on behalf of Dr Farooq Sattar.

The counsel of dissident parliamentarians informed the ECP that the commission was hearing a case against Farooq Sattar, requesting the bench not to announce the verdict until the matter of appointing a convener was settled within the party.

The Chief Election Commission, while directing the relevant authorities to provide copies of the case to the defendants, adjourned the hearing till March 15.
