ISLAMABAD – As an extension of its earlier verdict the Supreme Court of Pakistan has disqualified the hug between Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif that took place on Tuesday.
In a reminder of its verdict the SC bench read it out again on Thursday, underscoring exactly why the action had been outlawed.
“All steps taken, orders passed, directions given and documents issued by Respondent No.4 [Nawaz Sharif] as party head after his disqualification on 28.07.2017 are also declared to have never been taken, passed, given or issued in the eyes of the law,” were the repeated words in the court.
“Hence, the hug did not take place, wasn’t passed, given or issued in the eyes of the law,” it was added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif hugged each other after the former was appointed as the party quaid and the latter as the president at a meeting of Central Working Committee at PML-N’s Model Town Secretariat on Tuesday.
Reports further confirm that the party has been rubbishing rumours that it was Nawaz who took the decision to nominate Shehbaz, fearing the disqualification of the former premier’s successor.
Meanwhile, a contempt of court notice has been issued to Nawaz and Shehbaz for indulging in an unlawful act, which ‘did not take place, wasn’t passed, given or issued in the eyes of the law.’
