RAWALPINDI: Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has said that the Sharif brothers will not get a National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) even if they visit all Arab countries.
Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had arrived in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, joining his brother, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.
The abrupt departure of Shehbaz Sharif to Saudi Arabia triggered speculations about a possibility of another NRO for the Sharifs, at a time when elections are around the corner.
This was followed by the mysterious departure of PML-N lawmakers Khawaja Saad Rafique and Pervaiz Malik to Saudi Arabia – both are considered close aides of Nawaz Sharif.
However, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has denied oppositions’ claims that the Sharifs are seeking an NRO-like deal.
Talking to media outside the Supreme Court hearing case pertaining to Election Act 2017 on Monday, Sheikh Rasheed said that the nation will soon come to know about the future, and advised to wait.
Meanwhile, Member National Assembly (MNA) Jamshed Dasti said that accountability of dishonest people is going on in the country, and the offenders must not get parliament’s support. Corrupt politicians should be hanged, he demanded.
Dasti said his lawyer will appear before the court in the case pertaining to Election Act 2017. He said he wants the supremacy of rule of law and strong institutions in Pakistan.
At least 13 people, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed and Jamshaid Dasti, have filed petitions in the apex court, challenging Nawaz Sharif’s appointment as the PML-N’s president.
