PM urges nation’s clerics to bridge 7-day-old Veena-Assad divide

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday urged the ulema of all sects to forget their differences and come together to bridge the Veena-Asad divide that has polarised the social fabric of our nation.

“This is clearly the most important issue of the country that the clerics can extend their services to” he said in a televised address.

“I can literally think of no other issue that deserves more attention from the nation’s clergy” he added.

The Veena-Asad divide goes as far back as Saturday, when hostilities emerged between the two different schools of thought.

Tensions are always high at 17:00 which marks the anniversary of the first hostilities way back when the divide first emerged.

“We will respond to the Prime Minister’s plea with effective intervention. We will ask both sides to learn to live with each other. This conflict, which has already taken no live, needs to end” said Maulana Tariq Jameel, in response to the Prime Minster’s speech.
