ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said that government’s non-serious approach to FATA reforms is an insult to the people of FATA who have sacrificed so much but have still to be given their full democratic rights.
Khan took to Twitter to express his opinion on the matter. He remarked that delay in implementing the complete reforms package is causing unrest in FATA & will have serious repercussions.

He demanded that the government should immediately table before National Assembly (NA) a full package of FATA reforms including the abolition of Frontier Crimes Regulation, an extension of the Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court’s jurisdiction to FATA and an amendment in Article 106 of the Constitution to allow for the increase of seats in the KP assembly to accommodate representatives from FATA.

Earlier, the Opposition on Tuesday staged a walkout from the National Assembly, taking a strong exception to the government’s dilly-dallying to present the much-awaited FATA reforms bill.
The leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah took the government to task for dragging its feet to introduce the legislation for the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
After the opposition members boycotted the proceedings of parliament, the session was adjourned till Tuesday due to lack of quorum.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had adopted a resolution on December 14, 2016, approving of a KP, FATA merger, to mainly facilitate rehabilitation and reconstruction of the infrastructure, including roads, communications, power lines, water supply, education and health facilities.
