Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested three criminals, including two robbers, after an alleged encounter in different parts of the city in the wee hours of Saturday.
According to police sources, two robbers were looting citizens on Javed Hill View Road in front of Beacon House School when a police team reached the scene after receiving the alerts. The robbers opened fire on the police. The police responded by firing back. During the shootout, one of the robbers sustained bullet injuries.
The injured robbers were identified as Asghar Ali and Jamshed. The police also claimed to have recovered one TT pistol, some mobile phones and a motorbike from them.
Separately, the Baldia town police arrested a drug peddler, Waseem, and recovered 450 grams of drugs from them.
The police have registered FIRs against the accused and started further investigation.
