GILGIT: The 70th independence day of Gilgit was celebrated in Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday with traditional zeal and fervour.
On the occasion, Governor Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan and Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman hoisted the national flag at Chinar Garden Gilgit and laid floral wreaths and offered fateha at the martyrs’ monument. Northern Areas Force Commander Major General Saqib Mahmood Malik also participated in the ceremony. Contingents of Northern Light Infantry, Gilgit-Baltistan Scouts and Boy Scouts presented the guard of honour at the monument and carried a march-past.
