LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday extended heartfelt felicitations to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan and the entire nation on the 77th anniversary of the region’s historic liberation from Dogra rule, paying tribute to the courage and patriotism of those who chose to join Pakistan on November 1, 1947.
In his message marking Gilgit-Baltistan’s Independence Day, the prime minister said the day commemorates the unparalleled bravery, unity, and love for Pakistan shown by the people of the region, whose sacrifices and resolve reshaped the course of history.
“The people of Gilgit-Baltistan displayed remarkable courage and unwavering faith in Pakistan by freeing their land from the Dogra regime and making the historic decision to accede to our motherland,” the prime minister stated.
He reaffirmed that the federal government remains fully committed to the development, prosperity, and bright future of the youth of Gilgit-Baltistan, adding that ongoing initiatives in tourism, energy, infrastructure, and education would serve as milestones in the region’s progress and uplift.
The prime minister emphasized that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan would continue to be provided every opportunity for growth and empowerment, enabling them to play a vibrant role in Pakistan’s national mainstream.
“This day reminds us to renew our pledge to continue the journey of unity, progress, and national harmony with renewed passion and dedication,” he said.
In the message, the prime minister prayed that Allah Almighty bless Gilgit-Baltistan and Pakistan with lasting peace, prosperity, and development.
