Geo News fined for accusing armed forces of ‘institutional corruption’

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs1 million on Geo News for airing comments accusing the armed forces of ‘institutional corruption’ during a TV programme, ‘Aapas ki Baat’.

According to a press statement, PEMRA had received a large number of complaints against the programme. The authority, on the recommendations of the Personal Hearing Committee, also suspended the private TV channel ‘Starlite,’ for seven days for airing obscene and vulgar content.
