UNHCR Voluntary Repatriation Centres to remain closed during Ashura

PESHAWAR: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said that repatriation of Afghan refugees will remain suspended from Friday, 29th September to Monday, 2nd October on account of Ashura holidays.

In a statement, the UNHCR informed the Afghan refugees, holding Proof of Registration (PoR) cards and who are planning to return to Afghanistan from Pakistan under the voluntary repatriation programme, that its voluntary repatriation centres (VRCs) in Azakhel, Nowshera and Baleli, Quetta will be closed during Ashura.

Both the voluntary repatriation centres will resume routine operations on Tuesday, 3rd October.
