Says Lahore rejected conspiracy against former prime minister

Claims verdict on Panama case was announced before trial even began
The leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, said that people proved that Lahore has rejected the conspiracy hatched against her father by distancing away from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s Friday rally.
Addressing a convention in Abid Market of NA-120 constituency, she challenged the opponents, saying, “Come on the field and compete with Nawaz Sharif”.
Maryam Nawaz claimed that the verdict on Panama case was announced before the trial even began.
“Corruption, Panama, and Iqama are all excuses to target Nawaz Sharif,” she said.
She added that she had brought her father’s review petition to the traders’ community’s court.

“Was it not Nawaz who brought the country out of the power crisis,” she said, adding that each time her father was handed over a ‘broken Pakistan,’ her father strengthened it and built it back again.
She questioned the apex court’s July 28 judgment, saying when they could not find truth in allegations hurled against Nawaz Sharif, they used Iqama for his removal.
“Corruption, Panama and Iqama were not the issues but they fear PML-N will sweep the next election and they can foresee the party’s victory,” she said.
She told the workers and supporters that they must convey to the other people that NA-120 by poll will not be just an election but a contest that will ensure the sanctity of vote and supremacy of the people. She went on saying that Nawaz Sharif has pulled the country from darkness and lighted up the streets of the Pakistan, but conspirators created hurdles in the way, trying to stop the country’s uplift.

“People should reply conspirators with casting their vote in favour of PML-N on September 17, as it will decide the future of Pakistan,” she said.
She mentioned that Nawaz Sharif’s removal shocked the stock market and 100-index dropped sharply as during his tenure stock market broke all records and became one of the most emerging markets.
“I bring the Nawaz Sharif review petition in traders’ court and hope they will do justice with him,” she appealed to the business community.
She further said though PML-N’s rivals have continued to badmouth Lahore’s progress and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, the party will be victorious in the upcoming election in 2018.
The seat of NA-120 fell vacant after Nawaz was disqualified by the Supreme Court in the Panama Leaks case on July 28 on charges of concealing his salary from a Dubai-based company that he claims he never received.
Maryam is running the campaign while her mother and PML-N candidate for the by-poll, Kulsoom Nawaz, undergoes treatment for lymphoma in London.
