Govt collects over 1,345bn as direct taxes during current fiscal year

ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed on Wednesday that the government has collected over Rs 1,345 billion as direct taxes during the current fiscal year.

Responding to a question, Law Minister Zahid Hamid said that over Rs 24 billion were collected from government employees, over Rs 484 billion from private individuals, over Rs 830 billion from various companies and Rs 5.5 billion from corporations.

Replying to another question, the law minister said that the new survey of BISP will be completed by next year, so that maximum number of poor people can be included in the net to get benefit from the programme.
