Tropical storm to hit Karachi, Sindh coastal areas on Wednesday

Karachi and other coastal areas of Sindh are likely to experience heavy downpour from Wednesday night, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted soaring temperature for at least two days.

Met officials said that a rain system developing in the Bay of Bengal would hit India’s Gujarat and Rajasthan areas on Monday. “The system will bring heavy rainfall to coastal parts of Sindh, including Karachi from Wednesday,” they said.
The Met Office warned of urban flooding if necessary arrangements are not made by the municipal authorities.
At least 24 people were killed in rain-related mishaps when heavy showers lashed the port city last week. Although over 300 feeders of K-Electric, tripped following the heavy rains and thunderstorm, most fatalities were caused by electrocution.
