RAWALPINDI: Under treatment patients in Holy Family Hospital (HFH) have been forced by doctors and other staff members of the hospital to buy their own medicines. The doctors have also been referring the admitted patients to private diagnostic laboratory for blood tests.
According to patients, trainee doctors and staff advise relatives of the patients to seek treatment by the senior doctors of HFH in their private clinics because they are too busy to spare time for the patients admitted in the hospital.
The patients complained to the administration of the hospital about the nonchalant attitude of the doctors but the administration has failed to address their grievances. The poor patients visit the hospital from far flag areas for treatment but they are sent to take blood examinations and other medical tests at private diagnostic laboratories which are too expensive for the patients.
Nadeem, a resident of Muhallah Shah Chan Chiragh said that he brought his wife to the hospital where she was given a normal delivery but he was forced to arrange blood for her.
Imran resident of Sarafa Bazaar said his daughter was brought in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital in serious condition for treatment but the doctors refused to give treatment to her because of non-availability of life saving medicines in the hospital.
LACK OF MS IN THQ HOSPITAL MURREE:
Non-appointment of a new medical superintendent (MS) since the transfer of previous MS to Bahawalpur has compounded the problems of patients.
According to media reports, the MS of District Headquarters Hospital Murree, Dr. Rashid, was transferred to Bahawalpur; since his transfer no one has been appointed in his vacant seat.
Due to the absence of an MS in the hospital, patients coming from remote hilly areas for medical check-ups and other treatment related matters are facing serious difficulties.
On the other hand, the process of upgradation of the hospital has also not been completed in the past several months and piles of debris are found everywhere in the hospital which has given the hospital the appearance of a brick kiln.
The citizens have demanded for immediate appointment of MS to mitigate the grievances of the patients.
