Construction of model graveyard on 1000 kanal area

RAWALPINDI: Rs. 300 million has been allocated in the budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 for the construction of a model graveyard in Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantt on a 1000 kanal land in Dhamiyal Rakh.

According to media reports, initially, six funeral buses will be provided for burials in this graveyard. Work on construction of the boundary wall, funeral place, tree plantation and water availability for the graveyard will begin in July.

The model graveyard of Dhamiyal Rakh will be constructed after a proper layout plan according to the I-8 and H-11 graveyard model with bricked paths, street lights and flower beds.

An administrative structure will also be worked out for the allotment of the grave, its preparation, protection and safety as well. A ban will be imposed on digging new graves as soon as burial processes are underway at the Dhamyal Rakh graveyard.

Member of National Assembly Malik Ibrar said the model graveyard at Dhamiyal Rakh is a dire need of Cantt and city areas as it will be covering a broad space enough to construct new graves for a long time.
