Pakistan seeks good ties with neighbouring countries: Tariq Fatemi

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi has said that Pakistan’s relations with the Central Asian States and other regional countries are escalating.

During a recent interview, he said that the recent Economic Cooperation Organisation summit had sent a positive message to the world that security situation in Pakistan had improved remarkably.

Tariq Fatemi said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif wanted to enhance relations with the Central Asian States, neighbouring and regional countries.

To a question about India, Fatemi said that Islamabad had apprised the world that Indian intelligence agencies are promoting terrorism and instability in Pakistan.

“Pakistan wanted good relations with its neighbouring countries including India and Afghanistan but compromise on national interest would not be made,” he said.

“Better border management would benefit both Pakistan and Afghanistan,” he added.
