Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday appointed Maryam Aurangzeb as state minister for information.
The decision comes in the wake of the resignation of Pervaiz Rasheed from the post of information minister.

Aurangzeb is a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker from Punjab, and occupies a reserved seat for women in the National Assembly.
Earlier, there were reports that the federal government was considering to give additional charge of Information Ministry to Ahsan Iqbal, who is already serving as the federation’s Minister for Planing and Development.
