Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has appointed Marium Aurangzeb, MNA on reserved seat, to the newly vacant post of State Minister for Information.
A notification to the effect will be issued shortly.
Earlier there were reports that the federal government was expected to appoint Senator Mushahidullah Khan as Minister for Information and Broadcasting after Pervaiz Rashid had been directed to step down over leaked report of a high level security meeting.
Rashid had been directed to resign by the Prime Minister after a fresh rift between the civil and military leadership of the country regarding the leak or falsification of information regarding a meeting of the National Security Committee by someone in civil government.
