A local court has postponed till July 20 a decision on petition filed by actor Meera seeking nullification of her dual nikah proceedings initiated against her on a plea of Attiq-ur-Rehman.
Rehman had challenged in the court that Mira was married to him but she married another person without announcing a formal divorce.
At the inception of hearing on Monday, the court was told that that Rehman was out of the city while the actress was in Karachi.
Meera has taken the plea that her case for dissolution of nikah with Rehman was pending for hearing in a family court for adjudication and until the family court decides the case, no criminal proceedings could be initiated against her. Therefore, the current proceeding should be declared null and void.
The court maintained that decision would be announced in the presence of both the petitioners and deferred the case till July 20.
