School for educating children of policemen to be set up: IG

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Habib-ur-Rehman on Tuesday announced that a state-of-the-art school is being established at Badian Road in order to provide best education to the children of police officers/officials.

Addressing a ceremony held at the Central Police Office (CPO) he said that the police department is striving hard to provide all possible facilities especially education facilities to the children of police officers/officials, who remain on duty round-the-clock to provide protection to the lives and property of the citizens.

The police welfare fund will be utilized for the welfare and education of the children of policemen.

The Allied Group of Education and the Punjab Police signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Additional-IG (Finance) Sarmad Saeed, AIG (Admin) Ahmed Kamal, AIG (Development) Tariq Abbas Qureshi, Dr Sohail Afzal Executive Director Punjab Group of Colleges, Dr Shahid Mahmood, Abdul Sattar, and Misbah-ur-Rehman were also present on this occasion.

On this occasion, the IGP informed the meeting that a piece of two-acre land has been approved for the construction of the school, initially for primary education but later to be upgraded to Matric level.

The experts from the Allied Group will help construct the school while the Punjab police will pay all the expenses from the Welfare Fund.

The school will operate under the direct supervision of CCPO Lahore while the Allied Group will be responsible for the syllabus and curricular activities.

Additional-IGP (Welfare & Finance) Sarmad Saeed informed the provincial police chief that the department contacted three different educational groups for the school project and the Allied Group expressed their willingness to launch the joint-venture with the police department.
