Pakistan Post halves fuel ceiling for mail delivery staff nationwide

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Post has cut the monthly fuel ceiling for postmen and delivery agents across the country, replacing the earlier category-based system with a flat allocation of 30 litres for all mail delivery staff.

The reduction was approved by the director general of Pakistan Post. Under the previous arrangement, which had been in place since Nov 17, 2023, postmen were entitled to 35 litres per month, while delivery agents received 60 litres in major cities and 50 litres in smaller cities. The revised policy reduces the ceiling by as much as 50 per cent for some staff categories.

The new arrangement applies to all personnel involved in mail delivery operations and removes the earlier distinction in fuel allocations based on posting location or role. It will be implemented in all Pakistan Post circles, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Multan, Hyderabad, Quetta and Muzaffarabad.

In a separate direction, a fresh official order has told all postmasters general to clear pending fuel reimbursement claims on a priority basis once funds for the fiscal year 2026-27 are released. The instruction covers all outstanding claims linked to mail delivery staff.
