Ahsan Iqbal renews development pledge in UN meetings
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal told senior UN officials Pakistan remained committed to sustainable development and multilateral cooperation. A statement said he also reviewed Pakistan’s partnership with UNDP.

ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sustainable development, international cooperation and development diplomacy during meetings with senior United Nations officials, according to a press release issued by Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN.
The minister met UN Development Programme Administrator Alexander De Croo, with the two sides reviewing the long-running Pakistan-UNDP partnership and discussing ways to expand cooperation in support of Pakistan’s national development priorities, the press release said.
According to the statement, Iqbal said Pakistan’s development agenda was being guided by URAAN Pakistan, an initiative of the planning ministry meant to advance key projects and reforms under the 5Es National Economic Transformation Plan. He also expressed appreciation for UNDP’s continued support for Pakistan’s sustainable development efforts and institutional capacity building.
The meetings were presented by the Permanent Mission as part of Pakistan’s broader engagement with the UN on development issues, with Iqbal reiterating support for multilateral cooperation in pursuing national and global development goals.
