Police arrest man for torturing daughter in Lahore, another held over assault on wife

LAHORE: Police in Lahore have arrested a man accused of severely beating his minor daughter in the Ichhra area after a video of the assault circulated on social media.

The suspect was identified as Qurban. Police moved against him after footage showed him striking his 11-year-old daughter with a club while the child cried in pain. The girl, identified only as ‘F’, worked as a housemaid and had been accused by her employer of stealing valuables from the home.

A police official said the employer informed Qurban about the allegation and threatened to file a theft case against the girl. The official said Qurban then subjected his daughter to severe physical abuse with a club. Police said a neighbour heard the child’s cries, recorded the incident, called police for help and also shared the video online. A case was subsequently registered and Qurban was arrested, police said.

Woman assaulted on road, husband arrested

In a separate incident, Kahna police arrested a man after a video emerged showing him allegedly beating, humiliating and torturing his wife on a busy road near Cheddu village.

Police identified the suspect as Usman. The video showed the woman crying for help while motorists and passersby did not intervene. The footage also showed an alleged accomplice of Usman sitting on a parked motorcycle nearby.

The woman later told police that her husband and his accomplice were trying to take her somewhere by force. After the clip went viral, police carried out a raid in Cheddu village and arrested the suspect.

Both incidents came to light after videos of the alleged assaults surfaced on social media, prompting police action in Lahore.
