Three held over telecom data breach, says NCCIA

ISLAMABAD: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested three men accused of running a network that illegally obtained and sold sensitive telecommunication data of citizens, officials said.
According to the NCCIA, the group was allegedly involved in acquiring confidential records for commercial gain. The data cited by the agency included call records, SIM information, family registration details and location data.
An official said the arrests were made during an inquiry launched after a complaint by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The investigation led to the detention of the three suspects, who are alleged to have been selling the information unlawfully.
It also did not provide further details about the scale of the alleged breach or any charges filed so far.
