Motorway Police urge tourists to heed weather advisory
The National Highways and Motorway Police have asked commuters and tourists to avoid unnecessary travel after heavy rain and strong winds were forecast for much of the country, including Hazara. Motorists were advised to check road conditions and remain cautious on highways.

ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police have advised commuters and tourists to avoid non-essential travel after the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecast heavy rain and strong winds in most parts of the country, including the Hazara region, on July 7 and 8.
The warning was issued a day after intense rainfall affected several parts of Hazara, disrupting traffic on the GT Road and motorway because of flooding, poor visibility and other weather-related dangers.
According to an NHMP spokesperson, motorists should remain extremely careful while travelling, as heavy rain can make national highways and motorways slippery and sharply reduce visibility. Drivers were asked to slow down, keep a safe distance from other vehicles and drive with headlights on during rain.
The spokesperson also cautioned travellers heading to northern and mountainous areas about the possibility of landslides and falling rocks. The public was urged to avoid unnecessary trips to such areas and to review the latest weather and road situation before leaving.
The Motorway Police further warned that seasonal streams and nullahs could see flash flooding and told motorists and tourists not to try to cross floodwaters under any circumstances. Drivers were also reminded not to use mobile phones while driving and to stay fully focused on the road.
Road users were advised to obtain the latest updates on motorway and highway conditions before departure. Travellers seeking assistance or traffic information can contact the Motorway Police Helpline at 130 or check the official NHMP social media account, @NHMPofficial, for updates.
