Meta rolls out Muse Image across its AI products
Meta has begun rolling out Muse Image, its first image-generation model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, across Meta AI products. The feature will power Instagram Story effects and WhatsApp chat image generation in selected countries.

WASHINGTON: Meta Platforms said on Tuesday it is introducing Muse Image, the first image-generation model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs, as the company broadens generative artificial intelligence features across its platforms.
The company said the tool is built into its Meta AI chatbot and can handle complex prompts, take photos as inputs, and allow users to modify generated images through sketches or annotations. Meta said Muse Image will also support more than 30 new AI effects for Instagram Stories and enable image generation in direct chats with Meta AI on WhatsApp in selected countries at the initial stage.
According to the company, the feature will later be expanded to additional markets and added to Facebook and Messenger. Meta said basic access to Muse Image through Meta AI will remain free, while extra image-creation functions will be included in the company’s subscription plans.
Meta also said it launched Muse Spark in April, describing it as the first text-and-reasoning AI model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, a team assembled last year as the company moved to strengthen its position in the AI race. In a separate announcement, the company unveiled an early preview of Muse Video, an artificial intelligence model intended for video generation.
