Father, neighbour held in Lyari after mother alleges abuse of three girls

KARACHI: Police have detained two men in Lyari after a woman accused her husband of sexually abusing their three young daughters in the Aath Chowk area, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, a case has been registered on the mother’s complaint under Sections 354 and 376(2) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The complainant alleged that her husband, identified as Waqar, committed inappropriate acts against their daughters, who are aged seven, five and two.

The children were taken to the Police Surgeon’s Office at Civil Hospital, where medical examinations were carried out and samples were collected. Police said the inquiry would move forward in light of the medical findings.

The mother also alleged that one of the girls disclosed a separate incident involving a young man from the same street where the children go for tuition. Police said the suspect, identified as Adam, has also been taken into custody.

Officials said both detained men denied the allegations during initial questioning. A spokesperson for Kalakot police said the case was still being investigated and that the facts would become clearer after medical and forensic reports were received.

In a statement, the SSP City spokesperson said the matter was being dealt with carefully because of the ages of the children and urged the public and media to avoid speculation that could affect the investigation and the welfare of the minors.

The spokesperson said the priority should remain the dignity and protection of the children rather than sensational coverage.
