KARACHI: Water supply has been temporarily suspended in four union councils of Lyari Town after a leak was detected in a 24-inch transmission line, according to the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation.

A KWSC spokesperson said the disruption affects Union Councils 9, 10, 11 and 12. The utility added that the rest of Lyari Town is continuing to receive water normally.

The spokesperson said engineering and technical teams were sent to the site as soon as the fault was reported. After locating the damaged portion of the pipeline, repair work was started on an emergency basis, the utility said.

KWSC said the repair operation is expected to take 36 to 48 hours. It added that water supply to the affected localities will be restored in phases once the work is completed.
