Seven children were feared dead after the roof of a private tuition centre collapsed in Lahore’s Kahna area. Rescue 1122 said several others were injured and the operation was still underway at 6pm.

LAHORE: Seven children were feared dead and several others were injured after the roof of a private tuition centre collapsed in Lahore’s Kahna area on Tuesday, according to Rescue 1122.
Initial reports said around 30 to 35 children were inside the private academy or tuition centre when the roof gave way, leaving a number of them trapped under the debris.
A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said seven children had been pulled out with no pulse, raising fears that they had died in the collapse. The spokesperson added that the death toll could rise above 10, as teams at the site had informed Emergency Services headquarters that the condition of other trapped children was critical.
Rescue teams remained at the scene and the operation was continuing as of the latest update at 6pm.
