Constable shot dead on way to duty in Bannu
A police constable was shot dead in Bannu after armed attackers intercepted his rickshaw near Lora Bridge, police said. A search operation was launched after the assailants fled.

BANNU: A police constable was shot dead in Bannu on Monday after armed attackers intercepted the rickshaw he was travelling in near Lora Bridge, according to District Police Officer Yasir Afridi.
Afridi said Constable Umar Niaz Khan was heading to the DIG Bungalow, where he was posted, when unidentified terrorists stopped the vehicle. He said the assailants pulled the constable out of the rickshaw and then opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
The attackers fled immediately after the shooting, Afridi said. Following the killing, police personnel and members of the local peace committee reached the scene and sealed off the area.
A search operation was later launched in the area after the attack, according to the DPO.
